What we’ve accomplished:

1.

In the summer of 2015, our co-founder and board member Karaman Mamand visited a camp established by displaced Yazidis in the Darwish Khdir camp of Koy Sanjaq, which located in the middle of the Koya city (Erbil Province) to conduct a needs assessment. Karaman counted the following: 54 families consisting of 254 persons without basic necessities (e.g., food, clothes, heat, etc.), more than 80 of which are students out of school (first grade through college) and more than 23 of which are infant children without milk as a result of their mothers’ malnutrition.

2.

After establishing the most urgent needs of the community, the members of our organization reached into their own pockets, raising enough funds for basic clothing and food staples for every family living in the Darwish Khdir camp. In addition, we also provided some school supplies for school-age camp inhabitants.

3.

The citizens of Koy Sanjaq were eager to help us with our endeavor, resulting in eight local volunteers offering their vehicles to transport the items from the market to the camp.

The photos show the project at all phases, including the organization, transport, and delivery of the items, as well as the names of the families living in the camp who received assistance as a result of this project.
